My passion is to create accessible, dignified, and non-judgmental settings that support patient-centered healthcare. I hold a Master of Science in TCM from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and completed my undregrad at UC Berkeley. Before finding Chinese medicine, I contributed to care at Lyon-Martin Health services, an LGBTQI Community Clinic, and Golden Gate OBGYN, both in San Francisco. As an acupuncturisy my background in social justice and commitment to integrated health has afforded me to provide trauma-informed care at GLIDE Memorial Clinic, and ACTCM Community and Auricular Clinics; I continue this work as a rapid responder acupuncturist for APTP, the Anti Police Terror Project In Oakland, CA. As a Bay Area native raised in Parma, Italy, I am fluent in Italian and Spanish, and always love learning new languages as a humbling way of building community. Languages spoken: Spanish, Italian.

Shamsi happened upon acupuncture during her Peace Corps service in The Gambia, West Africa. There she met, and later studied with, a Cuban acupuncturist who treated patients for a variety of medical conditions. She was in awe of the effectiveness of acupuncture-how simply placing needles into specific points on a person’s body would positively influence a person’s whole well-being. Upon completing her two-year service, she attended the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco and graduated with a Masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2004. During her study of acupuncture, she also studied Reiki and became certified as a Reiki master. She is a California licensed acupuncturist and a nationally certified Oriental Medicine practitioner. Through the years, she has enjoyed focusing her practice on digestive health, women’s health and emotional well-being. She is now offering private acupuncture sessions in which she can incorporate infrared light therapy in the form of a panel called Celluma Pro. It is offers blue light, red light and infrared light therapy which can effectively treat acne, wrinkles, improve circulation and increase energy. A Celluma Pro light panel can be contoured over or around areas of the body. In addition, Shamsi can incorporate 15 mins of Reiki into an Acupuncture Plus appointment in lieu of massage or cupping. She looks forward to working with you.
